The project Conflicts in Transition offers workshops for young people aged 12 and above. Its goal is to motivate and empower participants to engage critically with global issues and to develop their own well-informed opinions. To achieve this, they are gradually introduced to topics such as global conflicts and their representation in the media, exploring them through a variety of approaches.
Photography serves as the central medium, helping to make socially relevant questions more accessible. It enables participants to visually grasp, reflect on, and explore complex issues, while also strengthening their media literacy.
Throughout the project, key skills are fostered, including independent research, information analysis, and a critical approach to media content. The workshops are led by photographers with qualifications in media education and take place either directly at schools or as part of visits to photography exhibitions.
Topics covered include, among others: global conflicts and their portrayal in the media, disinformation and fake news, the impact of artificial intelligence on the visual public sphere, photojournalism and the documentation of conflicts, war and displacement, approaches to conflict resolution and peacebuilding, as well as gender equality and diversity in the media.
The project is scheduled to run until the end of 2026.
